On June 8th, 2020 the Advisory Committee on the Nitrogen Problem (Adviescollege Stikstofproblematiek) presented its report to the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality. Elbert Dijkgraaf, Academic Director at ECRi, was a member of this committee. Dijkgraaf: “The Netherlands should reduce the emission of nitrogen to reach the goals set for natural areas. Only if the reduction is high enough there will be enough room for economic development.” In the report, specific advice is given to the government for the energy sector, the industry, the building sector and the agricultural sector.
